In the US you can go anywhere to have the oil changed and it will not affect your warranty under Federal law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act). I note that you are from Munich, where the laws may be different. Of course, in the US BMW pays for service during the warranty period, so you'd be nuts not to go to a BMW dealer. After the warranty has expired, again in the US, it is best to go to a trusted dealer who won't rip you off, or find an independent mechanic who specializes in BMWs. Probably best not to go to Jiffylube as the oil may not be approved BMW oil. But, BMWs are like all other cars - they put their pants on one leg at a time, and changing oil in a BMW is not like changing a spark plug in an old Ferrari (where the entire engine had to be removed!). (Sorry for the mixed metaphors.)
