 An unsolicited testimonial...

I just received this:

Hi Randy,

Thanks for you help on this. We did trim the wheel as the dealer was not able to have the part for 2 plus weeks. That worked just fine.

The repairs are complete on Jim’s roadster. He picked up the car more than a week ago. He is very happy with the out come and can’t wait to get to the track to check it out before One Lap of America.

As for the installation of your kit, it went very well. After performing several roadster/coupe rear floor repairs using the double factory bracket and floor reinforcement method, we found the pre fabricated reinforcement pieces and installation instructions to be excellent. Haury’s is a collision repair center, not a fab shop. It was a lot easer on our part to install the kit than to have to fabricate the pieces in house.

Best wishes on your business venture,

Jeff Butler

Thank you Jeff Butler and JimR!

His mention of trimming down the (speedometer impulse) wheel leads me to think that I'd better include that as part of the package. I wouldn't want anybody to be left hanging over something as simple as that

So anyone on the northwest coast now has an experienced differential mount installer to rely on.

Haurys Lake City Collision is a respected place around here. They host several tech sessions for the local chapter of the BMWCCA, a year.

Thanks for the good word!

Randy, Do you have any experience with a shop here in the Los Angeles area? After reading so many posts on this potential problem, I'm getting concerned. I've got a 2001 Roadster 3.0 with 57,000 miles on it. It's 99% stock and I think the previous owner(s) took very good care of it. Better to be safe, than sorry.

Any help would be much appreciated.

See http://mz3.net/articles/207.html. That was the first article I saw that hinted at the trunk/ diff mount problem.

Someone in the Roadfly Coupe section used these guys at the Crayford Coachworks in Marina Del Rey (310-577-9830) to work on this problem in their Coupe in the last year (sorry, but I forget who).

I have no direct experience with them.

That's great news. Maybe I missed it.. but... where is this shop? Seattle? Portland? (Hoping you say Portland).

Neither of my babies have the dreaded rear pan or diff crack issue yet. But, it certainly seems likely to happen some day. I have to say, it gives me a great feeling knowing that I'll have a proven and time / miles tested kit to rely on when the time comes. It makes some of "the hurt" go away, from us all learning this eventual fate of our ours cars from BMW's design mistake. Thanks for all your hard work Randy.
