Anybody has a spare hatch trim plastic piece?

Part number: 51 498 400 140. I managed to mess mine up a bit. I already got one orrdered from my dealer but even with a lot of discount that flimsy piece of plastic does not come cheap.

So if anybody has one available and wants to part with it I am willing to buy it. One caveat though - it has to be in perfect shape with no scratches since I already have one like that

Thanks,
Florian

What did I do? Oh well trying to get the darn thing unclipped I pulled on it... In the beginning nicely and after not budging I use a bit more force. I went trough a few steps of pulling harder and harder. It finally gave out but when it did if flew 10 feet in the air, hit my garage door and then came down hard on my floor, floor that put quite a few scratched in that stupid piece of plastic. My only consolation: I did not break any clips .

Oh well, live and learn I guess. But it was all good since I discovered that my old butcher of a dealer that were in the area a couple of years ago, broke 3 clips and they consisdered them as extraneous since they never replaced them (I only had 6 clips).

BTW I have an excellent dealer for parts. I managed to squeeze the part from them for $150 taxes included. Still expensive though. I am still mad at myself. That is the most expensive interior piece that I damaged on this car.

Sorry that happened. I fear those types of things happening when doing all these mods. Its a risk we all take.... parts that get accidentally torched... professional labor being called in at the last second to possibly bail us out... Yeeesh.

$150 for the rear hatch trim tho? That's not too bad at all.

I'm working on "recycling" the leather door panel inserts for my door panels. Chisseling and dremmel tooling off the heat stalk mushroom heads, and deriving a new method of re-attaching them after the new leather is on. You cannot buy them separately, according to my parts dude. If my system does not work, or I some how screw up the vinyl inserts, it will mean having to buy a full new door panel. Complete. Two of them.

They retail at $1,400 each. ... and so here I am... crossing my fingers.

So now we know boys... be berry berry careful with your car's door panels (scratches, boot marks, etc..). Gulp. Expensive.

Are you doing the leather rear hatch mod Florian? Pics?

Send me the old one. I will recover the whole part in black leather except for the (once) carpeted piece. No scratches.

I got your parts yesterday. Hope to finish this weekend.

No hurry on those things. I am not driving the car without a hatch trim anyway...

That is a great idea. You have PM

Thanks,
Florian
