 brake caliper flex?

Changing the front brake pads over the weekend, i noticed something strange about the OE pads I took off. The ends of the pads have a significant and unusual tapered wear-

(probably not too clear in these pics, sorry)

Do the OE pads come with tapered ends? I highly doubt that. But curiously, all 4 front pads have the same type of “wear” and they are uniform in shape, size and location from pad to pad.

So my next question- is this due to excessive caliper flex because of the rubber guide pin bushings? Bavarian Auto seems to have a solution to this with the installation of their brass bushings.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Following pic is of the rear pads. Hard to see on the bottom stock pad. Shows up better on the top Repco pad.

thanks for the input. i have never seen an new Z3 OE pad before, so it kinda baffled me. question is, why is it tapered? The Hawks i put on do not have this feature. logically thinking, the more contact surface of the pad the better. does the tapered ends help with even wear or heat dispensation? just curious.

I have the pins with metal sleves installed. This does prevent flex with stock rubber guides.
