Want to tune up the 98- 2.8 for spring. 81k on the odometer. Suggestions needed- on plugs, etc. Should I replace wires? If so with what brand & Type? What else should I change or consider changing? Have noticed some black dust on chrome exhaust tips.
Thanks in advance.

I have been told that the wires are a part that never goes bad, I dont know if this is true
I would do a cooling system flush and a diff fluid flush and change
Im on the side of factory plugs, my feeling is that the engine was designed with them so they prob work best with the engine but that is me
prob wouldnt hurt to run a high quality fuel injection cleaner either

While not personally familiar with the 2.8 model, the "plug wire" can and does break down on the S-52 M version. I replaced them on my 99 and another guy's 00 Coupe.

On the S-52, this is the plug wire between the plug and coil

Knowing heat, thermal cycling does degridate rubber & plastics I assume that I should replace ignition wire components as well as plugs. Water pump launched 3 months ago so coolant was changed. I hate to go to the local dealer (Verman)as they have been robotic as to what should be done vs what needs to be done. Plus there first response is "Oh your out of warranty period?" My impresion are they are about to bend me over or imply I need to get a new car that is covered. IMHO. I think I 'll look for a independent wrench. I assume that what needs to be addresssed at 80k on an M motor would also appply to a 2.8.
Thanks for reply
