 Trunk Badge USA or Europe?

Nice day in NY so I've took the time to replace the front & rear badges and the M sport rear and side markers ..on my 2000 M Coupe
I ordered these parts from Bavarian Autosport ... during the middle of the winter.... so
I haven't really looked at em till now.
All went just fine till....I removed the rear badge.
I ordered part number 51 14 1 872 969... which is what is listed as the correct rear badge for my 2000 M Coupe.
When I finally got the badge off there was another number listed ( sorry i don't have it... i can't find the scrap of paper i wrote it down on).... and I also noticed that the badge was much smaller than the one sent by Bavarian.
I called Bavarian and was advised that my rear badge is for a European build M Coupe?????
I ordered it... at 2x's the price may I add ???? and I'm awaiting receipt as it will take a few weeks.
Dunno if this is unusual or not ...but it seems my car has a European rear badge while all other badges/ M Sport markers are from the USA model ????

Any others out there ...in a similar ... state or is this just the luck of the draw during the assembly process ???

I'm curious

Peace,
D

My '00 coupe comes up as 51 14 1 872 969. My '01 and the euro cars come up with 51 14 2 291 869. I've always used the 869 70mm ones. The pins on the back of it are not indexed right so the badge doesn't set level unless you modify the holes some. What is the diameter of the 969 one you got? It has to fit within the indent.
I tried ordering some 869 ones for my trunlk mod fix and after three came in marred, I decided to delete it.

I know the "M" badges on the USA 99 and 2000 have "orange" instead of red, and the 99-00 are flatter than then newer red ones.

The badge currently on my car seems to be the 70mm one (869 #).
I have already returned the larger badge (969 #)... but my best guesstamate is that it was ~90mm and did not fit within the indent.
I'll keep my fingers crossed re: getting the (869 #) badge.. in good shape.

Many thanks for the input

Peace,
D
