2000 to 2002 MCoupe: unfortunately... a no go

Hello All,

Been a bit since I posted....been extremely busy the last 5 months... with an extension on my home.

Good to be back

I went today to trade in my 2000 Cosmos Black/Black interior MCoupe for a... 2002 Silver/Black/Gray interior M Coupe that I located at Prestige BMW in NJ.
They initially wanted $39.9K for it.
(I began the process of haggling and only got them down to $37.5 K to date) I
The car is in terrific shape & has 21K miles on it.
Here's the rub....they offered me ONLY $18K for my 2000 MCoupe with 41K miles on it (which for the record I paid $28.5K.. back in 07/2004).
I was shocked to say the least?????

I counter offered..... my 2000 M Coupe w/ $10k in cash.......
No interest at all on their part..it
seems.

Needless to say I'm still the proud owner of a 2000 M Coupe.

Peace,
D

Wait, so let me get this straight. You offered $10k in cash which means thats $27.5k left. So you expected the dealer to give you $27.5 for your 00 M Coupe?? I think you should look at market value a little more. Yes these are rare, but I'd say $18-20k from a dealer is fair (well, by trade-in standards). Even on the private market I doubt you could sell the car for more than $24k. I think your shock is quite unreasonable.

Point taken... but I'm still shocked

$10k cash plus your car sounds like a reasonable offer. They are being gready as they always are.

Yeah, they always want all the money from you and want to give you nothing for your car. The mazda store offered me 500 bucks for my miata on tradein.

I was like, you cant be serious.

How rude.

They give you no more then they can guarantee to get for it from a wholesaler. They take no chances.
