I just noticed that some Ultimate Garage web pages got updates last week. It looks like AC 1500N flat-top jackstands are coming soon. So are low-height 1500N and 3000N. http://www.ultimategarage.com/acjacks.html I might be calling Steve this week for other things, I'll ask about the timeframe for the 1500N flat-top and the low-height stands. Meanwhile my dirty car sits on four AC3000N flat-tops in my messy garage while I muck with the Eisenmann alignment. |

thanks | Front tires are about 5.5" off the floor, rear tires are about 4" off the floor. I'd have to pull the undercover off to tell you how high the transmission is. This is with the AC3000N flat-top stands at their lowest setting. They'll go up another 8". The only time I've used them at full height is to powerwash the underside.
If you're asking if you could do the shift pin work on jackstands... I wouldn't advise it. Much easier to do that on a lift with a trannie jack. I've only owned one car where I was comfortable pulling the transmission w/ the car on jackstands; old Subaru whose transmission was so light I could set it on my chest w/o panting.

Well, the 5 speed really isnt that heavy. If you drain the oil that is. I had to lug my 5 speed to my new townhome on saturday. You can pick it up. I would put it at about 50-60 lbs.

But weight is not the issue...
I dont see how you will be able to get the bolts out of the bellhousing without being able to look OVER the transmission from the rear and using a 4 foot extention. Thats what I had to do. If you want any help pulling the transmission in orlando, let me know.

6-speed is 99.8 pounds.
Have no idea if that's with oil or not. My guess is not.
