Flushing and refilling coolant this weekend, so it was time to powdercoat the thermostat housing. PITA to sand and buff before powder (die grinder is now tired ), but it turned out nicely. Fresh out of the oven, still taped and plugged (and hot). Not a great picture since it's getting dark here, but... EDIT: color is 'Super Mirror Blue' from columbiacoatings.com |

EDIT: color is 'Super Mirror Blue' from columbiacoatings.com | Looks good. Be careful putting it back on. It's easy to ding the o-ring. Lube it up good.

Draining the block on these cars sucks. I though the radiator was sort of a bummer due to the AC condenser lines being below the radiator drain plug; made a minor mess. But the block drain plug is hard to get at, and makes much more of a mess. The smart thing would've been to wait for wam weather and do it in the driveway.
All drained, now I just need to put it back together, fill and work the air out. Not sure yet how I'm going to get a torque wrench at the block drain plug; might need to buy yet another 3/8" extension (I suspect my long ones are too long, the short ones too short, and 2 short ones makes the header get in the way).

Hey, what happened to you today, thought you were coming down? | I thought so too, but spent much of my day with the die grinder, and part of it cleaning up coolant from the garage floor.
Wanna make me some custom piping to make draining the block easier in the future?

Since I have the water temp sender in the plug, I don't remember if I used a socket or crows foot.
