 Record size Coupe Gathering?

What's the biggest so far? Homecoming? Dorkfest? What was the turnout?

There's rumor of a UK roundup in the works of >= 55 cars. The report mentions the largest state-side gathering of 38. That doesn't seem right.

I'll post more details on the UK thing in a bit...

Read about the UK (Donington) meet here:

http://www.z3mcoupe.com/

Dorkfest '04 is the biggest that I know of, beating our Homecoming record at 41 coupes.

The 38 number probably came from HC'03, where we had 36 in the photo and at least a couple more that didn't make the photo.

How many at Dorkfest? Anybody? I'll ask over at the fly, I guess...

Here's more scoop on the UK thing...
This report is from dailysportscar, a subscription only news site for sports car racing enthusiasts. If you like ALMS, Grand Am, and the related series around the world, there is absolutely no better place to get your daily dose. Thanks to the editor for allowing me to excerpt this for you folks.

Hawthorns BMW ‘Breadvan’ Z3M
It’s perhaps surprising but BMW has never yet been represented in the British GT Championship (with the exception of engines in McLaren, Ascari and Morgan entries).

2005 should see that change however as the marque makes its British GT debut in the GT3 class, with two of the rare BMW Z3M models due to join the grid at Donington Park’s opening round.

The 3.2 litre straight six is perhaps more usually found in the BMW M3, but in Z3M form pushes out a healthy 340 plus bhp and in a light and compact car this should be enough to produce a very competitive response to the Porsche and Ferrari hordes

Donington Park should also see another significant event in the Z3M’s short history:

“The owners club have arranged for a fabulous turn-out of road cars at the circuit: we believe 55 could show up, with a pristine BMW UK version along too. SRO has arranged a special parking area and the owners will have a lap of honour on the circuit during the lunch break.

“If they all show it will be a world record, the previous best showing in one place was 38 in the USA, and with only 400 Right Hand Drive cars built, a showing of over 50 would be fantastic.”

The second Z3M entry will be formally announced at the Championship media day, on March 16.

I guess my answer was ambiguous. 368s.com reported 41 coupes at Dorkfest '04. That is the most that I know of.

the good news is...Dorkfest 05 is in June...a few months after the UK meet so we can have a chance to re-claim the record!!

parade lap is a cool idea....

For those interested i will be attending this meet, i think there may even be more than 50.

That's quite a gathering when you consider how rare this car is in the UK
