What caster settings is appropriate for the M coupes with HR springs and Koni's

I am doing -2 camber 1/16 toe in front and -2.25 with 1/8 toe in rear...not sure what to do about caster.

I replied to your email about this earlier, but I'd have the alignment done with the caster set to max (as much as your KMAC plates allow). It's not going to make a huge diference either way, and I'm assuming you won't be changing it between street and track. You said in another thread that tires are perishable, so you might as well run the setting that's going to yield more negative camber when cornering and be more stable in a straight line at speed.

I haven't seen the KMACs in person. The TC Kline are set up so you can change caster independently of camber (different bolts and mating surfaces) and the slots for caster adjustment are angled to minimize camber and toe changes when changing caster. I'm assuming the KMACs are the same.

It'd be worth knowing the range you have. I'd ask the shop to write down your min and max camber and caster with the KMACs before they set things where you want them.

Factory specs for caster are 7.58 degrees +/- .5 degrees with 10 degree wheel lock and 7.83 degrees +/- .5 degrees at 20 degree wheel lock, with .5 degrees or less difference between left and right. I suspect the KMACs let you work somewhere in the range of 7.5 to 9.5 degrees.

I also installed the the turner sterring rack stops so that i don't pinch my hose that runs air to the disc backing plates. They shorten my lock to lock...wonder what effect that will have?

Anyway- I went to the stock settings for the caster.

Do you know if the is 7.5 to 9.5 degrees of negative caster? I assume so...

Should have no real effect on the alignment.

Positive, not negative. Positive caster == top of strut rearward of bottom of strut, i.e. a line drawn through the axis of the strut hits the ground forward of the center of the tire-to-ground contact patch.

I thought positive caster was when the angle of the strut was leaning forward of the vertical axis through the center of the hub....

regardless of what its called- I agree that the angle is leaning back

All this just in time for the 8 inches of snow in the NYC area.
