Car Adapts to your Driving Style -- Truth or Urban Myth ??

I've often read that BMW's throttle response adapts to your driving style over time. Any truth in this?

I rarely use more than a 3rd of the throttle during my normal daily driving and seem to recall reading somewhere that a 10% application of the accelerator pedal produces about a 30% throttle opening?

What about SMG ... is that "adaptive" as well?

zzzz..

My car feels much more responsive to me, i have an SMG and i feel like in automatic mode the SMG now goes deeper into the gears before upshifting like i do. Might just be me getting used to the car

I dont know if it changes over time, but in the short run, my e34 540 does adapt. If im pushing the car, the car will hold onto gears longer so that im in good part of the power band. Then if i stop being agressive, the car still holds onto gears until it realizes that im not in a sporty mood anymore.

An add on question, how would one notice any "adaptation" with a non SMG manual transmission? If I drive easy for several hundred miles and then get aggressive would I notice a difference compared to driving aggressive all the time?

No. If you do feel any difference, it´s a trick your mind is playing on you. There´s nothing adaptive about MT BMW´s.
