 UUC shifter problem

I recently purchased a 2000 M Roadster , it came with a UUC short shifter kit.It seems to make noise in forth gear if you press on the gears shift lever. This only happens when the car is moving.I can't feel any vertical play.Any one have an idea of what to do to stop the noise.
Thanks Dan

So, if you don't press the gear shift lever when in 4th and at speed it does not make any noise?

From what I've read, it is NOT not a good idea to put any pressure or add weight to the shift lever.

Thats correct , the weight of the hand causes the grinding noise.
4th is the only gear I get the noise in and the car must be moving.

When does it make the grinding noise? When entering 4th of after it's already in 4th?

If it's the latter, like I said, you should NOT be putting any pressure on the shift lever once in a gear.

It's probably from the inner and outer parts of the lever touching each other. You can try taking it apart to see if the o-rings or rubber sleeves are missing, but if it's not doing this during shifts, you're probably fine.

The noise is when it is in 4th gear, Palm pressure is enough to creat the sound. As far as I know the shifter was installed a few thousand miles ago along with some stage four Diana upgrades.
