highly doubt it. the Z4 is a free-spirited driver's car, and whether you chose to believe it or not, all the other M's are luxury sports cars. The M3+ cars, if anything will completely lose their 3rd pedals in the future

MY Point is: First BMW drops the allready developed and tested SMG for the E90.
Now they drop SMG for the Z4M (although it would have simply been the SMGII from the E46 M3, thus not a technical problem to do) and more than that, they also drop it from the other Z4 models.
Then there´s talk of a paddleshift for the step and also rumours of a DSG style double clutch transmission.
My guess is, BMW is slowly moving away from the SMG as we know it.
That doesn´t mean they are reverting to stick only. And thank goodness for that. Those 3 pedals really are an anachronism.
I think they are preparing their lineup for a completely new kind of automated transmission. Are we seeing preparations for the double clutch box?

Well E90 SMGIII would be in the E90 M3 which is still in fairytaleland. Who knows what kind of box it´ll come out with, If it does come out with a MT, then only because of the US market. All other market seem to prefer the automated manuals. The M5 will only get an MT6 becuase of the demand from the US.
What I meant was that SMG for the non-M E90 has been droped. Just as the for the non-M Z4 and the SMGII for the Z4M.
That´s what makes me wonder.... My guess is that at least the non-M SMG´s are no longer a part of BMW´s future.
