brake lining light just came on
does that mean pads?
| | Reply » brake lining light just came on | Yes, and I believe it generally means "YOU SHOULD'VE REPLACED THEM SOONER!" I've never let my pads get anywhere near this point, but from the looks of how the sensor is positioned and the way it works, when it goes off it probably means you have zero pad lining (and hence may now have scored rotors). Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Brake pads should be checked frequently enough that you never need the sensor. Cheap and easy to replace on these cars (and every BMW I've had my hands on).
