 oil leak

Put the Flitzer up on lift this weekend to install SS exhaust (still missing parts which were supose to be included- middle hanger ) and noticed clear motor oil drips and film on front od bell housing and bottom rear of oil pan... hoping it's not from rear main seal?

Has any one had to replace the main seal? looking for guidance as to complexity of this job & what is entailed? If I have to pull motor I will look at what mods to do. For now I'm watchin and monitoring oil consumption. Has ant one tried the maricle in the bottle stuff???
I'm not one to go this route but maybe the technology has improved from the sawdust days

You'd need to pull the tranny. Before trying that, inspect the valve cover gasket for leaks. Pull the plastic engine covers off, check the spark plug galleys for oil and look for oil dropping down the back or side of the engine.

The valve cover gasket problem is pretty common, and if you have a leak into the spark plug galley it (eventually) ruins the boots from the coil to the plug and causes misfires and stumbling idle.

There's a good writeup here for the fix. Pelican parts
