 M Coupe Plastic Under Panel

Last year my under panel ( the plastic shield behind front spoiler that sits below the front of the motor) blew apart into a million pieces.

I have been trying to find a used one from an online BMW Parts place who might have a total on the lot. No luck.

My options are to go to the dealer and pay a lot of money for a piece of plastic, or
try to fabricate one out of an alloy or something.

Any ideas out there...please share

i think i have what you are looking for..... i replaced the mesh grill on the bumper of my m coupe... long story short, i ordered two new plastic pieces for the underbody because i didn't know the person who was fabricating the mesh for me removed it and kept it. i'll take a picture of it when i get a chance and send it to you if i can ever find my camera.... sorry zoran, i looked for it all last night and today and i think my brother may have taken it...... btw, when you say a lot of money, i think it was like $50-60 bucks for the big one...

I just ran into the same dilemma as you. I took it in to the dealer after finding out there aren't any pre-fabricated aluminum underpanel replacements around like there are for the e36. It cost me about $88 including parts and labor. Supposedly this isn't as prevalent a problem on z3's as it is on the e36's. I had an e36 M3 and my underpanel fell/broke off atleast 3-4 times before i went with the aluminum replacement which was awesome. If you feel like getting crafty then try and make your own aluminum replacement. Personally I just bit the bullet and had the dealer fix it.

If you get the chance a picture would be appreciated.

The dealer may have been quoting me the whole front spoiler..88 bucks is much more reasonable.

They originally quoted me about $160, but it ended up being cheaper. I believe the whole underpanel piece consists of 3 pieces - 2 smaller pieces on the side and a long one in the middle. I believe my 2 side pieces might have been salvageable and therefore the cheaper price. - I also used my BMW CCA discount which took about $20 off of labor. good luck.
