The new 4 cylinder 2 liter engine that is used for the 1-series and new 3 series will be available in the Z4 as well. BMW expects to deliver the first Z4's with this engine in may.
With this engine the car is able to accelerate to 100km/h in 8.2 seconds. Topspeed will be 220 km/h. The car will have a 6-speed gearbox. The new model will be introduced at the Autosalon in Geneve.

For those that live in places where cars are extremely expensive it can make a difference whether or not you can afford the Z4. Currently the cheapest Z4 costs € 44.000 in the Netherlands which is ± $ 58.000.
For me it wont make a difference because i don't fit in the Z4

Gas is very expensive in Europe, hence the 4 banger. Also, as someone else posted, it keeps the purchase price down.

we also need the return of the bread-wagon... the M coupe. | I am actually selling my M Roadster to get a M Coupe. BMW is going to come out with a new roadster, but not a coupe, not to mention the fact that I love the coupes anyway.
Europe gets some great cars that we don't, but they sure get alot of slow cars that we don't also (Americans can make their own slow cars I guess). And yes everyone, no matter where they are, hate gas prices. Some worse than others..
