First of all, I want to say that this has nothing to do with the reliability of the engine. I knew it was going to happen after countless of hours of track abuse. It was just a matter of time. I don't want to get into the detail. It's a 99 m coupe.
Now, I will either rebuild it or find a used one. I still haven't got a quote on how much damage it is but I have a mechanic disasembling the engine as we speak. My question is, if I were to get a used one, what are my choices including Euro engines etc... Will S50 or S54 fit into my car?
Also, anyone has any advice as to where to find them?
I am expecting this will cost me close to 10k CND ~ 8000US.
thanks. Chef

You can buy a used M52B32 engine fairly cheap and just drop it in. I wouldnt go with anything else unless you got money to burn.

Not starting up or anything but I'm kinda curious about what happened... I had a 93 Mr2 that did about 10 track days including Laguna Seca, Willow Springs and ButtonWillow. I kept the car out there the whole time I could and all I did was kill a good set of rings at 140K miles.
I now have a 99Mc and am just wondering what went wrong. I don't think any motor should "blow", track abuse or not... Money shift not withstanding.

Just hypthesizing, but S52 + track days = uber hot oil or low oil and kaboom.

The salesman who sold me my m coupe also has one that he tracks, and his advice to me was to overfill the oil on track days.
