What's the scoop on changing out a stock underdrive pulley on a 99 2.3 z3 for improved hp. w/ a high performance pulley? Is this a mod that is worth doing? Feedback appreciated.

i dont know about BMWs, but i just did one 2 weeks ago on my 97 GTP and it made a noticeable difference. Of course its BMW, you will prolly pay 150-200$ for the damn pulley.

On I6 engines, it is better to swap the accessory pulleys and NOT the crank pulley. The crank pully is part of the harmonic vibration dampening system.
