did i break my driver's side knee bolster trim?

so i was following LeatherZ's DRL instructions...and got to the part where i'm supposed to pull off the knee bolster trim. i pulled back the console edge as far as i felt comfortable and proceeded to pull the thing off. anyway, i heard a pop while pulling....and after some wrestling, finally pulled the trim off (don't even wanna think of putting it back in, hope that's easier)....

so the trim came off in 2 pieces...

piece number 1:

piece number 2:

they fit together well....

looks like they were glued together. i'm thinking that i can take a blade and trim some of the dried glue off and glue them back together....is this ok? if so, will good 'ol superglue be alright?

also, any tips for getting this stuff back in? i have both sides of the car apart b/c i'm adding DRLs, footwell lighting and a glovebox fix. i should've done them all when i had the console out for my leather. anyway, hindsight...

Yeah you broke it , but you can glue that little vent back on
for the record and I realize some safety is gone, if you remove that hunk of ugly ass steal that you see now under your colum that trim goes back in like butta

I did the same thing on my knee bolster. I just cleaned the 2 pieces up with an Xacto blade and then glued them. I used Devcon Plastic Welder which is very expensive and requires a special gun applicator (it helps I use it on Mark2's). A 2 part epoxy will probably be better than super glue.

oh, ok....i have some JB weld that i'll use then. thanks....

so is it worse getting it back in?

tempting, but i had to make a special trip to Sears to get a ratchet small enough to fit in there to get it out.

now the principle of it forces me to use it again to get it back in

Much worse especially with the knee bolster in place.
Make sure you engage the lower metal tabs on the glove box side.
I used hot glue which worked fine. Both sides are rarely in the car though.
I now have the glue gun tool Andy mentioned.
I used it to glue the aluminum insert into my plastic oil filler cap.

Your stuff will go out Tueday.
