Back from 2000 mi roadtrip to Cutter BMW

Packed up the 325xit and headed up to Northern California for a friend's wedding. On the way down the CA coast, we stayed in at the Costanoa Inn, the Mission Ranch in Carmel, and the Big Sur lodge.

I couldn't pass up the chance to divert off the highway to Santa Barbara BMW (which my navigation system nostalgically calls "Cutter BMW"). Obviously Shaffer wasn't there (though I did keep my eye peeled for a black E36 M3 or an E39 touring with a tow-hitch), but I had the chance to chat with Keith Kinealy who described himself as the "last of the old guard" when I identified myself as a long time bimmerfest.com fan.

The trip was beautiful and the 3-touring was well up to the task. As it turns out, when your two-year old pukes on a curvy road, the leather cleans up without a hitch.

Also, the trip really sold me on the value of the navigation system. I'd never by a family car without again. It's pretty sweet when someone tells you, "Oh, be sure to check out so-and-so" and you just plug it into the nav and you're off.

In the pics you'll see my big sister's matching E46 touring.

It looks like it was foggy/overcast in Carmel - typical
How did you like Mission Ranch? How about Highway 1 thru Big Sur?

Dang! I wish that you had told me that you were passing through...
I frequently meet up at the dealership with Bimmerfest friends when
they're passing through town...

What a spectacular day in Santa Barbara, no?

Just under 80 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, not a wisp of wind, and crystal
(November) clear.

Btw, Steel Blue / Natural Brown still looks great!

Yeah, if I'd been on the ball, I would've contacted you. I think the secret fantasy was that I'd recognize you just walking around. As it was, we had fun just nosing around Santa Barbara.

Both my wife and found ourselves saying that SB must be an incredible place to live.

Well, there's always the fantasy day my E61 M5 gets delivered after European Delivery...we'll definitely meet up if that happens via BMW of SB!
