Z4
Hey, how do you guys like your Z4 2.5i? Is the current 2.5i avaliable with the SMG? Also, does anyone make a removeable hard top for it? Thanks
| | Reply » Z4 | As you can see from the number of looks and posts .Z4's are spoken of here but seeing there are few performance enhancing mods and that there is no coupe version or M version not many opinions here. Mybe why sales of the Z4 are weak. You may be better off staying with that 8 cylinder pony car until (if ever) an Mz4 arrives(an 8 cylinder would be sweet)... If you have $40k to spend you can get alot of power and handling put in to that pony car. IMHO

| | Reply » Z4 | i own a 3.0 Z4 with the sports pckg on it. I am stilla young-buck and not that experienced in the culture of automobiles, as that comes with age. But i can tell you that i test drove the 2.5 before i bought the 3.0 and the 2.5 sucks IMO. It is very underpowered. To give a real world example, if you pulled up next to GTP at a light and raced, the stock GTP would be right next to ya. The 3.0 is a world of difference though. I was actually surprised at how much of a power difference there was between the 2.5 and 3.0. It is fast enough for what i wanted. I didn't buy the Z4 to get Sub 5sec 0-60 times. I bought it becuase i thought it was a unique and sexy looking car. You either love it or you hate it, but there isn't one time that when i go out someone doesn't come up and ask me about the car or i dont get an intersection full of open-mouthed onlookers. And as far as no performance mods. As of like 2 days ago, a bunch of new Dinan mods came out for the Z4. CAI, high performance TB, exhaust is soon to come, and they have i believe up to stage 4 programming chips available, as well as differentials and a slew of suspension mods.

You gave him a an honest answer. Folks here would rather buy an M version of the Z4 than a Dinan ... How much are you going to spend on Dinan mods? Most Dinan mods on Z3 are 20% higher than similar mods, with similar results, by other third party suppliers. Dinan mods may also be less agressive than other suppliers as they do not void BMW warranty. IMHO.

I have a 3.0 6 speed and am very happy with it. Never test drove the 2.5 or smg, so I can't give you any feedback there.
