Well, I did a search and didn't find anything...
Left rear swaybar link and sway bar are no longer attached to one another. This explains the occasional banging noise. Link looks to be in good shape. Any tricks to getting the rubber bushing back over the bar? Or just grease it up and push?
TIA, Kerby 2000 Z3 2.8 Roadster

The link was still attached to the body. I took it off to look at it. The sway bar end looks to be just rubber. The chassis end has a metal sleeve in it to keep from crushing the bushing. I have no idea why it popped out, but I can't find anything wrong. Well, other tahn the sway bar not doing anything at the moment...

use WD40 to press them back together and give it 30 minutes to setup, shoudn't happen again unless the link rubber is bad, then buy a new link and do the same procedure

There was a TIS issued for 1999 2.8 Z3's regarding out of spec rear sway bar links; maybe it was extened to 2000MY. I don't know. The out of spec links are plain, the right ones have BOGE molded into them. I had mine replaced under warranty, but I have heard of success using WD40 as a reattachment lubricant. But a word of caution, once the WD40 dries, the link will probably be permanently attached to the sway bar, (you'd have to cut it off) so get the link on and position it where it needs to be quickly. Its not easy, I tried and gave up and let the dealer handle it.
JonM was right it happens to them all. Good Luck.

How can you tell if your rear swaybar links have popped off? (without jacking the car up and removing the wheels to check)
