Daytime Running Light Module/BMW Keyless Entry-Alarm/HID Conflict
As I prepare to put E46 HID Projectors into my M Coupe, I've just realized something startling.
I read way back that HID's do not like being cycled on/off very quickly (flashing), which is one reason they aren't used as highbeams unless there is another set of halogen bulbs on the car to "flash" people with.
With this in mind, I remembered that my DRL-Equipped M Coupe flashes the lowbeam lights while the alarm is going off. I've always thought it was a neat feature and never noticed it before I installed the DRL module.
My questions are:
- Do non-DRL cars (cars with the US-Spec highbeam module) flash their lowbeams while the alarm is going off?
- Assuming I cannot eliminate the flashing, will it hurt the OEM E46 Hella D2S bulbs/ballasts I'm planning to install?
- If yes to the two above questions, is there a way I can deactivate the flashing lights during the alarm cycle?
Thanks!

And the BMW alarm never goes off unless some is actually breaking in, so flashing HIDs might be worth the slightly reduced HID capsule life... Just my 2 yen.

Aftermarket alarms will allow you to set parking light flash only.

Besides, if they want your car, they're going to get it. I just don't park it outside often, and never at night.
