Weighed the car
When I initially purchased the car it weighed 3364 with me out of it if I remember right. Had it weighed again today on a different scale. Full tank, spare tire plus it weighed 3180 with me out of it. BMW spec is 3131 with someone in it. I have no idea on the accuracy of either scale. At the 2003 SCCA Toledo Tour, the gray car weighed 3235 Lbs. with me (160 Lbs. dressed) in it. HMS rollbar & Simpson Platinum lapbelts, substrap & harness; SSR wheels & Hoosier tires (both lighter than stock). Fuel quantity is unknown.

Speaking of weight, what are some of the weight reduction you can do on a M coupe? There's the usual rims, exhaust, seats. I guess light weight fly wheel would fit as well (more throttle response). Am I forgetting anything?

The following is my lightening effort.
2 Cobra seats. 29 lbs ea. Took out the 2 stock seats. 70 lbs ea. ( 82 lbs. saving.)
1 Hawker light weight battery approx. 14 lbs. Stock battery is 40 lbs.? ( 26 lbs. saving.)
4 SSR Competition wheels, front 14 lbs ea., rears 15.5 lbs ea. If the stock wheels are front 20 lbs ea. and rears 23 lbs. ea., then ( 27 lbs saving.)
1 Supersprint exhaust estimated weight saving 15 lbs.
Installed 1 Strong Strut front strut bar and the HMS harness bar, both totalled approx. 10 lbs. ( 10 lbs. added.)
Un-scientific result makes the stock car's weight with 1/4 tank of gas being close to 3138.
