Another E39 touring?
I don't really NEED another E39 touring, but this deals looks almost too good to pass up. 5 spd, 160K miles, $8995 http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/147359928.html Don't these I6 engines go forever? | | Reply » Another E39 touring? | Quote: I don't really NEED another E39 touring, but this deals looks almost too good to pass up.

Don't these I6 engines go forever? | When I started looking for my Touring back in September, this was in the Autotrader - I was interested because of distance from Vancouver, but decided to pass it up because it's been used to tow something. So it seem potential buyers have passed it up too.
| | Reply » Another E39 touring? | Quote: What is this Vanos problem that you are referring to? I have had ignition coil pack problems with my I-6. First time it happened, the dealer replaced it under warranty even though my '03 530i was outside manufacturer's warranty.
But they only replaced the one faulty coil. That was 2 months ago.
Just recently another one of the coils packed up, but this time they wouldn't replace the coil FOC. So I paid for the remaining 5 to be replaced at my own cost.
The engine's smooth again! | You're not alone! We had one coil go out on the '03 530 after about 30K miles or so. The dealer replaced ALL of them under warranty. I guess there was a service bulletin telling them to do so. At the time, I was puzzled by this - now I'm happy that they did them all. Hopefully, they'll last this time (or at least be covered by the extended warranty...).
This was also the time where someone stole all of our side moldings, side markers, and the front license plate while the car was at the dealer - they obviously replaced everything, but the license plate thing is a pain (need to get all new ones). Still driving around with the front missing (it's been a year)...

I can't imagine the towing capability is very good.
Thanks for the info. I might go take a look at it anyway.

but as for the I6's i can tell you that mine has gone for every without any problems,a nd still going strong.
