This has bothered me ever since I drove an automatic car: Why do they crawl from a stop? Its just plain annoying and feels unnatural. If I am not pressing the gas pedal why should the car move on its own? Lately this has been annoying me to the point I just throw my StepTronic in neutral when I approach 10km/h or so and coming to a stop. Is there any way to stop this behavior or am I just being unreasonable? I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only auto driver that is annoyed by this. |

Because Drive is a gear
If you don't like it, put it in neutral or park while you are stopped.

Thanks, now it makes sense.
Will the transmission wear out faster if I put it in neutral and then back into drive at every stop?
