looking for recommendation of professional tint shop around philly, pa and princeton, nj. i've never had tint on any of my cars before. my objective is for a little bit of privacy, heat reduction is not a major concern for me, however i want to retain the best radio reception from the rear antenna (this is a major concern for me). iam thinking about going for the lightest at 35%. the problem is i don't know which material to go with. Llumar or huper optic? i visited a local llumar shop and they were asking for $180 for full job. the guy said he knows of only one other person who uses ceramic material for tint job in pa. please chime in if u have had ur windows tinted in the rears and comment on radio reception. one last request, recommendation of shops that u previously had experience with and has good reputation. thanks

All the Llumar films that have a lifetime warranty are metallic which may interfere with your antenna. There are 2 companies that sell ceramic tint which should not interfere with your antenna: Huper Optic Ceramic (Stark) and FormulaOne Pinnacle. The closest FormulaOne shop to Philly is at:189 Rickey Boulevard, Bear, DE 19701. For the closest Huper Optik dealer contact:
Huper Optik USA 17356 Northwest Freeway Houston, Texas 77040 Toll Free:888.296.FILM (3456) Phone: 832-467-1170 Fax:832-467-1190

I'm actually in the tint business - but commercial and residential - not cars.
You'll find the Huber Optik ceramic films will be markedly more expensive than LLumar metallic films, but are very light in appearance.
Depending upon PA tint laws the very light in appearance ceramic films may be an advantage. In NJ the driver and front passenger side windows are technically not permitted to have ANY film applied. I have heard of people being stopped by police just because of tint. If PA has similar laws to NJ it would be good to have tint that wasn't obvious on the outside.

penndot states that 70% of light must pass through glass all around for '98 and newer vehicle. how can people drive around and not get pulled over? how come limos are exempt? how much is the fine and will it show up in my records? thanks

What exactly are you looking for in tinting?
The dark look: then you have no choice but to go with a film with a VLT of 50% or less. A ceramic film would be good as has been mentioned before they visually appear to be lighter that their equivalent (same VLT) metallic films. This is because ceramic films have reflectivity similar to that of plain glass so it allows you to see more into the car than metallic film.
Reduced heat load: then you can have V-Kool film installed with a VLT of 70% (meeting PA requirements) but with a very high heat rejection that not even limo tint can meet.
