Just stopped by the BMW dealership to visit a friend that works there and he showed me a new Imola Red ZHP that they just got in and are trying to get out real quick. I could trade my xi in and not have to pay any extra money per month on the new lease as I'm paying now. The only thing that is holding me back is the color. I'm worried that I'll get tickets left and right if i get a Imola Red car. I need to have made a decision by tomorrow afternoon, other wise I may lose out on this awesome deal. Do you think that I will get more tickets because of the color?

Having said that it is a psychological fact that red stimulates excitement. Here are some facts per psychological testing:
The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. It is also the color of love. Red clothing gets noticed and makes the wearer appear heavier. Since it is an extreme color, red clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red cars are popular targets for thieves. In decorating, red is usually used as an accent. Decorators say that red furniture should be perfect since it will attract attention.

FWIW, I have owned two red cars in my life, both when I was very young. However, I was not a reckless kid. One thing I recall was that the finish tended to fade quite a bit as the cars aged, but I didn't have a garage and we are talking 20+ years ago too.
One was "hooked up", well as hooked up as a 1976 Toyota Corolla liftback could be, and I was pulled over for BS at least twice in it, never ticketed. The other was a bone stock '89 Acura Integra and I was pulled over in that car a couple of times also. I recall traveling in a pack of cars at about 10mph over the speed limit, me the only red one, and I was pulled over by the cop. However I did not receive a ticket.
Women are attracted to the color Red, or so the studies show. My two red cars had no affect on my love life at the time.
Imola with Natural Brown is a really sweet color combo if u ask me. I also know that red cars tend to be harder to sell, probably for the same reasons you're thinking about right now.
If I am ever in a position to own a Ferrari some day, it will definitely be arrest-me-red! Cuz if I can afford that car, I can afford the tickets to go with it! For my daily driver though, I prefer to blend in with traffic.

When I bought my car the last wkend before the Sept 1 increase, there was also a red E90 sitting at the lot with a great Value!
What I thought then was, I dont want to stand out. I have enough speeding points and I didnt want to take any chance.
I used my personal beliefs, and chose Graphite. Its a dull color I know, but i can sneak up a few MPHs every now and the under the radar gun. Graphite, i feel, mitigates the risk.

A former CHP officer who was teaching traffic school said that white cars get the most tickets, because there are more white cars on the road than any other color. He was asked if the % of red cars that got tickets was higher than average of all cars. He said he didn't know.

Imola Red is a great color...go for it and just dont drive like an idiot. Your chance for getting into an accident is probably lower because you will be keeping your eyes open for cops
