Resonator removal!! Which ones to do??

I have a 2000 323ci and i have remus exhaust...its way to quite for me..want to remove the resonators....don't know what ones and or how many to remove...Also I was just wondering if this will effect the drivability of my car....I think all they do is make the exhaust quiter..Anyways just wanted to have a shop put straight pipes through...You think this will work good?

Removing emissions equipment is a federal crime. If you did the car would probably perform poorly as the post cat O2 sensors will not seeing what the computer expects them to. Plus you will be losing some back pressure in the exhaust system that is necessary.

You will not pass emissions without the cat.

Keep in mind that on many cars the resonators aren't so much responsible for lowering the volume of the exhaust as they are for lowering the tone. The really horrid high-pitched sounding Hondas all have their resonators removed. A neighbor of mine recently replaced the exhaust on his E39 528 and had the resonators removed. Sadly, it sounds absolutely horrible. Until I actually saw him driving away I was positive it was the riced Civic that's one house further up the street that had been making all the noise...

Interesting Avatar, Tangent. Is Bangle getting the beating for his lame designs? Or did somebody borrow your car and return it damaged?

Actually on a 323 you can remove everything behind the front resonator (yes including the muffler) and it isn't too loud, and actually sounds pretty good. And that makes it easy as the front resonator is also the joining piece for the two pipes from the engine to a single pipe back.
