I've always been curious about this; I know BMW is currently making some high preformance cars (M5, M6 etc.) but why nothing like other car manufacturers?
Mercedes Benz has theirs: -CLK GTR Roadster -CLK GTR Supersport Both selling for close to $2m+
Ferrari has their Enzo (although I know BMW and Ferrari aren't exactly targeting the same audience as BMW and MB.
Years ago, Jaguar did their XJ220. 200mph+ with a $700k pricetag (at the time)
Porsche's $400K+ Carrera GT
I think you get the point of what I am saying. It might be an ignorant question, but why hasn't BMW made a super-exclusive, exotic supercar? I know they developed the S70/2 motor for one of the best cars ever built, the McLaren F1, but why nothing with the BMW badge?
The only thing that really made me thing of this was MB's CLK GTR's.... Some might think they are ugly, but I always wished BMW would do something like that.
I was looking at that the other day. I am still waiting to see if it will actualy happen. Why did it take them this long?

They were probably too busy making awesome road cars instead of a super nice super expensive all out car and crappy cars. Besides, M5 and M6 are kinda super cars but more like Grand Tourers like the Astons.
