I live near Missoin Valley and need to get my car looked at. I already know I need front struts, but now the Service Engine Soon light has gone on again (of course after getting it repaired under the used dealerships warranty 2 weeks ago, which just expired!). I was told of a great and reliable mechanic in San Marcos, but my car is starting to act up and I don't think I should drive it all the way up there. Please, if you have any suggestions, anything would help. Thank You!!

these guys seem to have a good reputation but I have not been to them. La Jolla/birdrock area I think, so pretty close.

I had a 1999 540 with some VERY weird electrical and transmission issues. One BMW specialist had it for over 1 week and couldn't figure it out. Since I was selling the car through a small dealership the car went to that shop based on the dealers recommendation. Tony had helped me diagnose other problems in the past - so i suggested towing the car to his shop. Sure enough - in a few days the car was fixed. And he is VERY fair in pricing.
I recommend him highly - but check him out for yourself.
