If, like me, your BMW is a company vehicle and also, like me, you now drive a diesel to minimise the tax paid for the car (although the 'better than petrol' performance makes this a joy rather than a chore!), be aware of the following;
The 3% diesel surcharge waiver for Euro 4 compliant diesels ends on 31st December this year.
If you take delivery of your car before this date, you will qualify for the 3% exemption throughout the entire time you have the car.
If you take delivery after this date, you will pay the extra 3% for the entire time you have the car.
For a 320d manual saloon this means 17% tax before 31st Dec or 20% after. Over the time you have the car, you will be over £1k worse off in tax if you take delivery from 1st Jan onwards. Additional tax will be significantly more if your car is loaded or a 330d.
I have realised that colleagues of mine were not aware of this, so thought I'd post the info.
