Looking for 528i Sport: Need price help!

Hello All,
I just registered and am looking to buy a 99 or 00 528i sport 5speed. There is a nice one for sale in the classifieds here, but i couldn't get the price i wanted. The Kelly Blue book listed 16k and change for the 99 528i sport/premium 5speed with 74000 miles from a private owner. It seams that alot of these cars are spending alot of time on the market because of high prices. I would love to know what others are paying for this type of car and why?!?
Thanks!!

check www.nada.com for prices also www.cars.com and on ebay. It really depends on what your willing to pay and how much features you want...

Interestingly enough, if you run a nationwide search on Autotrader.com on the asking prices for a '99 528i, under 75,000 miles with Manual tranny, it comes up with high price of $27,000, low of $14,500 and an average of 20,668. Mine is the second cheapest one on the list.

The same search for a 2000 Model 5 speed shows an average of $21,935

It also seems odd that if you run the same search for an '99 automatic (nationwide and under 75k miles) the average is $19,052. You would think the average price on an automatic would be more

I would guess that an average price would get an average car and an above or below average price may or may not get an above or below average car?

It does appear that most of the 5 speeds, sport package, etc cars out there are demanding more than book value, albeit they seem to sit for a long time. A search of cars with less than 75000 miles will average in lots of cars with very low milage that are more valueable, and no high milage cars that might be in very good condition that would give a better idea of where your car stands. It may take some time to justify spending more money on a car that has all that I desire (yours), even if it is over book, but maybe not market... I dont know.

I'm selling my 99 with 95k miles for $22500 if that helps you.

It looks like a very nice and highly modified car... Someone will have to want to pay dearly for for all the extras and be happy with higher milage...
