Anyone here with factory sport suspension go to Bilstein HDs and leave the springs and rollbars stock? Can you describe how the ride and handling changed as a result?

I doubt it since the proper shocks to put on a sport suspension car is the sport shocks.

I believe the Bilstein shocks are designed for sport -- both the HD version and the sport version.
Anyone?

How can that be since they have the same valving and the difference is length?

I think most change out shocks and springs at the same time...it is the way the suspension parts are marketed. Besides, they are designed together and after going through all the work to change them, one might as well do both parts.

Anyone? | I don't know about an E39, but on the E46s, you use the HD's if you keep the stock springs. The Sports are designed to be used on a car that has aftermarket springs which make it ride lower. According to all of their information and that on other websites, the valving is the same, its only the lenth of the shock itself that differs.
