 need help w/ long distance car transaction

I'm in MI and the private party seller is in TX - seller is uncomfortable accepting a cashiers check b/c of possibility of forgery or 'stop payment' once it changes hands;
buyer is uncomfortable carrying $$$$$ cash onto an airplane. There are no branch offices of my local bank in TX. so what is the safest way for both the buyer & seller?

Bank wire transfer. Assuming you and the buyer are both 100% with the car deal itself, a bank wire is pretty much scamproof. I collect watches and that's pretty much the accepted method of payment there.

I did suggestion (1.) of BayAreaBMWFan when I sold my porsche. I asked him the name of the branch name and for a faxed copy of the cashier's check. Then I called the bank to make sure that a check with that number had been cut to the right name (mine).
