 Long Shift Throws on 2003 525 ? (5 speed)

Greetings !

I just finished a test drive with a 2003 525. Very nice car. I was however, a bit put off concerning the manual transmission. The shift throws seem especially long. Does anyone else get that vibe ? Is there a upgrade or kit available to shorten the shift knob travel between gears ?

Do the 530's suffer the same operating characteristics ?

Many thanks,
Johnny Canada

Sure, they are known as SSKs or Short Shift Kits:

Rouge Engineering http://www.rogueengineering.com/Merc...ory_Code=OCTSL
UUC Motorwerks

Both have popular kits for shortening the throw on your manual 5er (and 3er).

I have had the RE Octane in my 2001 530i for about 3 years now.

You'll also want to investigate removing the dreaded CDV from your manual tranny:

Welcome!

I have the UUC in the 540i/6 and love it.
