Hi All
Is it possible to swap radios?
One car is an E39 2003 530 D A/T with an ordinary BMW radio.
The other is an E39 1997 528i A/T with a BMW Professional radio.

Thanks. | To the best of my knowledge, no. The audio wiring changes from year to year to support the functionality of the head unit. I would suspect the wiring in a MY 1997 E39 is very different from a 2003.

You can put the 2003 unit into the 1997 with a couple adapters, but you cannot put the 1997 radio into the 2003.

are you talking about the head unit or the trunk mounted radio? I've put an new radio in my 00 M5 to get sirius to work, as tyrone said, a few adapters are needed, but it's plug and play.
