Stupid question I know but I can't figure out how to adjust the seat belt "height adjuster" on my 2003 530. I'm referring to the adjuster that would be to your left if your driving on the center support between the front and rear door. There is nothing in the manual noting this. I can move it up and down but can't get it to lock into place. Help!

It automatically adjusts with your seat front/back position. I don't believe there is a way to manually adjust it but I understand that there is a way to stop it from moving up/down.
You may want to check bmwtips.com under tips&tricks to see if they offer anything.

The seat belt is controled by a small metal wire in a cable connected to the underneath of your seat, when you move your seat the wire is either pulled tighter or released, the cable runs up the B pillar to the seat belt mount, it pulls the mount up or down.
It's easy to remove the cable, it's just held in by a small clip on the underside of your seat, once you release the clip the seat belt mount drops to the lowest position.

My drivers side cable must be unhooked then because it's stuck on the lowest position with my seat all the back and does not move down when moving the seat forward. I'll check this cable out and see if it's unhooked. Thanks for the help......beats going to a dealer!

The cable will be on the left hand side of the seat (as you look down on it, closest your door). It runs from the floor at the front of the seat and connects to a metal bracket about three quarters the lenght of the seat on the underneath of the seat.
If the cable is unconnected, then it will almost disappear in to the carpet just under the front of the seat. It runs around a small pulley there, there is a small slit in the carpet for it to come out of. You should be able to pull the carpat back and have a look, if not then just undo the four hex blots holding the seat in and tilt the seat back, should be able to get good clearance then.
Hope this helps.
