 for those with automatic headlamps.....

Do they go on when they are supposed to?

I noticed on bright sunny days.....when driving on the highway in the middle of the day if all of a sudden some trees shade the road the lights come on. Any way to bypass the auto lights or adjust???

They work great - in a sense that if you have them, you can totally forget that you have headlights. Every time they have to be on - they are, and most of the time they have to be off - they are, but not always. If you're constantly checking whether they turned themselves off - you may get frustrated at time, but if you just forget about them and let them work - they're perfect.

Yeah, mine work great. They needlessly go on when I pull into the garage, but that's no biggy.

I think I remember a bulletinfrom BMW that says the sensitivity can be adjusted. Maybe this would do the trick for you.

i wouldn't bet on it, i tried to get the sensitivity turned down at my dealer when i went in for my last oil service, after 2 hours of futzing around with it they admitted that it can be done but they don't know how to do it.

Mine work flawlessly; they don't come on in shade but they will come on in tunnels. Maybe it's a matter of how drastic a sudden change in light is?

My advise to you is change dealers. Its a routine adjustment and any dealer should be able to do it.Good luck.
cheers
