The temp gauge on my recently acquired 520 Touring fluctuates during driving. It can stay in the blue zone for quite a while before travelling slowly to normal ( straight up ) but will then move between the blue zone and normal.
Any ideas.

Mileage and year of your car?
Off the cuff, sounds like a thermostat problem. Mine went on the fritz at 49k and was covered under my warranty. These aren't too costly to replace.
