21 September 2005 BERLIN - Police in the German capital are such bad drivers that they are losing their beloved BMW squad cars after having been involved in too many crashes, media reports said Wednesday. At least 22 of the leased BMW 5 series estate cars have been totally demolished in accidents since the force took delivery of the vehicles in December 2002, said the Berliner Kurier newspaper. Over 60 per cent of the crashes were the fault of officers behind the wheel, the paper added. As a result, Berlin's cops are being downgraded in motor world and will in the future drive the slower and less sexy VW Touran van. DPA
