Just received my July production number today for my 530, can't wait for delivery  , that's a given. Thanks to all on this site for general information on options, etc. This site has been a tremendous help with price negotiation and knowing what kind of a deal to expect. My dealer got me a July production date, he made changes to an existing order and slotted me in there. He said production will be shut down in August...I hope I get through in time before they close......................  Do I have enough lead time to get through before they close down the plant?????? Congrats! When did you place your order? Why do they close the plants in August??? Retooling for the new models or updates to the current ones?

Actually I'm not sure why they close down for a month, maybe retooling or something or a major German holiday. I need to ask the CA that question. I just hope I get built before everybody takes off. Would hate to have them shut the lights off with my car half built, then they get back and forgot where they left off

Oh I forgot, I placed the order today, got production number today, the dealer modified an existing 530 production number with my color choice and options so I could get a July production number, hopefully all goes well. I'm a little nervous about them making changes to a number assigned to a different car, but they say they have done it before with no problems.

Most auto plants close down for 4 - 5 weeks so that everyone can go on vacation. A skeleton staff takes care of any re-tooling and/or maintenance on the machinery.
Rest assured that the Germans have this down to a science. Your car will be built as promised. It takes about 5 days from when you get your VIN/commencement of assembly until the car is completed. Good luck to you and congrats on a good choice.
