 Stock wheel bolt length?

Hey all,

I will be receiving my car in 1 week, a 2005 545 with sport that I want to put spacers on the stock wheels. I need to order the parts but I need to know what the stock length of the bolts are and confirm that they are conical seat (as supposed to ball seat)

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I did want to have enough time to order them and put them on right when I get the car.

This has been a great forum, I have been a lurker for some time and have learned alot. I just got a 2005 545I 6MT, SPORT, NAV, Black sapphire/Black Dakota/Anthracite maple, logic 7.

I have always been a modder, so I expect this will be a slippery slope.

Thanks again for any help.

I've been mulling getting spacers for awhile now. I think I'm going to dive on in. Let me dig around and find out. Oh, by the way I'll be getting H&R 10mm spacers.

Here is the answer I got from a very knowledgeable person:

Quote:
Yes it's the tapered seat, the one and only that e39, e34, e28 and e60 BMW's are using. OEM Type: M12 x 1.5 x 25.5mm

Here you'll find useful infos by professionals about it.

Thanks Jiio!!!

I will be able to order them now. I am going to do 10mm H&R spacers for the front and 20mm H&R spacers for the rear. So I will need 35.5 mm conical bolts for the front and 45.5 mm conical bolts for the rear. I think this setup will last me until a new set of rims and the M-aero kit happen toward the end of the year. Just moved to South Florida from Maryland and the real estate has kicked my ass. Will kick up the modding once I replenish the bank account.

BTW thanks for the links!!

Just checked Turner Motorsport and they seem to indicate that I should use a 50mm bolt for the 20mm spacers and a 40mm bolt for the 10mm spacers. Either they are saying that the stock bolts are 30mm or that the 4 mm difference is not important.

I had a bad experience on my previous car with bolts that were too long that seized up the wheels so i am a little wary.

any more thoughts?
