After a bit of high-speed on the Interstate in Kentucky yesterday, pulled off to find a motel and the right rear tire on my 04 330ci/ZHP went flat. Luckily, found a tire shop close by and got a Kumho to replace it. The sidewall had blown out and I had not hit anything. Off to the dealer tomorrow to complain and Bridgestone is gonna hear about it too! Anybody want to buy a 255/35/18 Kumho w/500 miles on it? Watch your ****stones guys..........

Watch your ****stones guys.......... | "Blown out" tends to indicate a sudden and total loss of air, but it sounds as if you discovered the flat only after parking. Frequently a punctured tire becomes overheated from low psi and this combined with the rim running against the sidewall gives the appearance that the sidewall failed. I`m not disputing your account, but true blowouts are rare and usually accompanied by a large boom and sudden change in car control. Have dismounted many shredded tires and upon careful inspection found the small puncture which began the chain of events. Just a possibility.

Quote: | How many miles were on the tires? | 8,000 miles Alex. And there was NO puncture...I may have exaggerated by calling it a blowout, but there was a definate bulge on the sidewall and that's where it was losing air. I got stopped before it went completely down, so it was not damaged by driving it flat.

Why not call Roadside, have them get the proper tire installed, and pay for the hotel stay?
