1. I just wanted to verify it this is operating correctly on my car, since it is different from our E46 325. When I turned off the car, and taken the key out, but haven't opened a door, you can still operate the windows and radio. However the moonroof is inoperable - unless the key is in the ignition. In the E46, the moonroof can still be operated.
2. What functions work with the voice activation system (no Nav). I haven't synced a bluetooth phone yet. The system responds when I click the voice button, and recognizes numbers. Can I use this to dial a bluetooth phone? BMW Assist? Any other functions?
3. Do I rotate the tires? The E46 manual says not to (and I haven't - I just replace the rears earlier), but the E60 manual doesn't say one way or the other. Does anyone have any information about this?
While I'm here, here are things that I've noticed:
- Some of the cost cutting - Using the CWP bumper for non-CWP bumpers; Underside of hood is unpainted (perhaps it lowers the weight); No seat memory in the passenger seat (I really miss this). - ARS/Dynamic Drive - get it, the car corners a lot more flatly, even on freeways. The suspension is brilliant. Our 2003 325i SP floats a little on the freeway over bumps, and rides hard. The 530i doesn't have the float, and rides a lot better. - Run Flat Tires - I haven't found the ride to be bad, and is consistent with the sporting nature of the car. My wife also feels the ride is a lot better than the E46. I expect BMW engineers tuned the car with RFTs. But, I haven't ridden in a non RFT SP car either. I've only found the ride to be harsh over bad potholes - then it is really bad, noisy, and abrupt, much worse than the 325i SP. - Logic7 - I honestly don't think this system is much better than the HK system in the E46. But, I am not an audiophile. I feel the ML system in the Lexus GS is much better, when I listened to the demo DVD. However, if this is the best system that BMW offers, I have no qualms of paying for it, and would do the same again (but not with the CD changer). - Sunshades - a must for those with kids, or are planning on having some. We miss not having this in the E46, and my wife absolutely loves it (maternal instinct). The side shades are great for those facing forward, and the rear for those facing the back. - BMW Assist - the only value to me is in case we have an accident and are incapacitated. I can get similar directions, traffic, and concierge services info through my Blackberry. - Front Armrest storage - I don't like having to open to compartments to access the storage areas. You also need to push the top lid all the way back, then access the inner compartments etc. Complicated and too many actions. - Fuel Consumption - I get about 20-22mpg in mostly city driving. This is about 10% worse than I get with the 325i. Perhaps the engine will free up more, and consumption will improve. - Size - this car is much larger than the 3er. Just right for a family. I can't see myself needing a 7 series, other than for a bit more luxury. - Styling - purely subjective, but I like the style of the 5 series over the E90, particularly around the rear. The part I don't like about the 5 is the front - specifically the eye lash indicator lights, and the nose being too round. I like the chissled look of the front of the E90. Mix the front of the E90 with the side and rear of the E60. - Interior - make it a bit more luxurious. Pad the center armrest. Some more chrome/ruthenium highlights. The reading lights seem cheaper than the E46.

I honestly don't remember if in the 545i if the sunroof still worked in this situation. Quote: | Originally Posted by chrischeung 3. Do I rotate the tires? I rotate mine regularly on my E39. My 545i, of course, had a staggered setup (different size between front/rear tires) so rotating those are more painful so most don't do it.
