 Auto or Manual

I'm just wondering how many of the 5's are manual. It seams that a great percent on this forum are auto. I'm thinking about a 550 with a manual trans, will I be odd? Of the 5 BWM's that I'm owned 2 were auto and I ended up selling them after a short time. I know the new auto is about as fast as the manual but I think I need the involvement of the manual.

only thing i can suggest............. Manual BMWs are SUPER SUPER SUPER hard to sell for good price

if you dont plan to sell it and you love driving manual, go for it

no doubt slushies are the most popular tranny on a BMW but find the right guy, and the manual will move, too. Like on this forum where a lot of enthusiasts hang out, most do like manuals.

I drove the manual on the 550 and it felt and handled great, you get great performance from it. I also drove the steptronic right after it, in the DS mode it was very close. I opted for the steptronic, long term if you sell or upgrade then it would be easier.

MANUAL.

I had to order my '00 540i to get it in manual at the time, although now my local dealer seems to usually have ONE 525, 530, & 550 in manual transmission on the lot. I like the SMG in the M cars I have driven (M3 & M6) but was nervous the SMG in the standard cars would not be sporting enough.

This time around I ED'd to get exactly what I wanted: 3 pedals.

I lease so I do not care about resale, but you might in which case American drivers these days are prefering slushboxes.
I mean how else can we eat our supersized fat-food and talk on the cell phone??

IMHO, it's a BMW...get manual.

FWIW, when dating, being able to drive a manual transmission was high on the list, and my wife (of 9 yrs) can row through the gates with the best of them Am I a sicko or what
