Hi all,
I need opinions... help.gif
Will you go with gray or black interior with anthracite wood trime? Anyone one has pictures with this combination?
As for exterior, I am torn between black sapphire and titanium gray....I am afraid black is going to be too hot during summer.
Another thing - can you order M-aero kit with ED? dealer told me this is a dealer-install option. True?
Thanks,

Opinions here, but that's what you asked for...
Anthracite trim just looks black and muddy to me. Might be OK with black leather, but the wood is always nice.
Have lived with a black-sapphire car for two years now (330i ZHP) and like it, but ordered my 550i in jet black. Reason: all considered, nothing looks quite as deep and lustrous as jet black. You should consider that - see the two side by side in the sun.
As to black cars being hotter in summer, I've owned 4 black cars in Florida and I think there's essentially no heating difference from other colors. The physics is complex, but essentially all cars get just so hot in the sun and then reradiate the heat back to the atmosphere - black is probably the most efficient at absorbing sun energy ('gets hotter'), but black is also the most efficient color for reemitting heat energy as well (thus the term black-body radiation) and I think it's really a wash, ignore it.

My car is TiAg, Black leather, & Anthracite maple: outside pics on the ED pages below. I like silver/black, but have driven cars for yrs with this combo. Most people think the inside of my cars looks like a coal bin, but I don't care - I like it.
Yes, you can order the M aero kit (M technic kit in europe), but the VPC will paint and install it upon re-entry to the US.

I just looked at a Blk/Blk 650 with the black wood inside - not striped like the 550s but color-wise, it looked great - brown wood in black to me just doesn't look right and I've seen loads of those on the lot.
It is hard to see a good photo of that interior because most people cannot take an interior picture with proper lighting; flash will just blow it out and everything will go "neutral grey" with an auto exposure setting since that is what auto is trying to do. Seems like I saw one decent photo on the e60 forums that actually looked like the car really does. Or use the "BYO" configurator on the BMW Canada WEB - I think it does a pretty good job with the interior.

I wish they offered non-wood options really - that would be ideal.
As for interior trim, I'd go lighter but I always seem to get some mark or something on the seats that drives me nuts - I guess I am rough like that, so black for me - but I do think lighter colors can be more comfortable and some combinations show off the interior design better than black where it all sort of runs together.
For exterior, you just have to go look at clean cars in the sun to decide. The blacks and silvers/greys all look really nice to me.

I have a nice pic of gray w/maple anthracite trim. See if you like it.

As for interior leather color, I think black will be better for both Titanium gray and Black sapphire metallic, although with black you realize that the interior trim is also black so you're not going to get much contrast like you would with the gray.

I have black w/ anthracite--looks very sporty & elegant.
The vertical striping is not as pronounced in person (the flash exaggerates it).
