My '06 525xi got a recall notice for a potential problem with the engine management system and the O2 sensor that could cause the car to not recognize an emission problem. Since day 1 with the car (last September), the on board computer has calculated my mileage as between 22.0 and 22.5 MPG. Manual calculations when I fill up the tank confirm this. Since having the software update done, the OBC shows the mileage has dropped to just over 20. For it to drop that much that quickly, something's got to be wrong. I haven't had to refill the tank yet, so I don't have the manually calculated number. Any ideas?

I've been waiting on bringing it in for that recall, now I have reason to wait longer!

I put about 150 miles on the car over the last few days. The OBC is now back to showing the normal 22.1 MPG. I filled up this evening and the manual calculation worked out to 22.4 MPG. Looks like everything is back to normal.
